What it is
Quests are the things you actually do. Finishing one pays XP and gold. Levels get harder on a curve that reaches level 50 in about two years, so the game does not run out in a week.
Gold buys rewards you set yourself, from a shop with a floor price, so a reward always costs something real. Curses are commitments with a visible cost, agreed before you accept them. A weekly chronicle records how it went, and a letter to your future self stays sealed until the date you chose.
Your gold balance is never stored. It is always earnings minus spending, recomputed from your own history, so it cannot drift out of sync.
